As a newborn photographer, I love capturing the milestones of your baby's first year. One of the most exciting milestones is when your baby turns six months old. This is a time when they are developing rapidly, learning new skills, and becoming more expressive. However, sometimes 6-month-olds can't sit for their milestone session, and that's okay! Here are some tips and tricks I utilize for capturing beautiful photos even if your baby can't sit up yet.
Use props: Props can be a great way to support your baby during the session. I will can incorporate things like baskets, crates, and other props to create a comfortable and visually appealing setup.
Focus on tummy time: Tummy time is an important developmental milestone for babies. It helps them build neck and core strength, which are essential for sitting and crawling. I can use the session to capture your baby on their tummy, playing with toys or interacting with you.
Embrace the moment: Six-month-olds are full of energy and curiosity. Embrace this moment and capture your baby's natural movements and expressions. If they can't sit up yet, I tend to let them explore and play on their back or tummy. This can result in some of the most candid and beautiful photos.
Get creative: If your baby can't sit up yet, I will get creative with my setups and angles. I can capture your baby from above or below, experiment with different angles and lighting, and use creative editing techniques to enhance the final result.
Remember, the most important thing is to capture the essence of your baby at this exciting stage of their development. Whether they are sitting up or not, a skilled newborn photographer can capture stunning photos that you will cherish for years to come.
