My Most Frequently Asked Questions For Newborn Sessions

A lot of my clients are first time parents and have a lot of questions regarding their newborn session. Here are some frequently asked questions about newborn photography:

  1. When is the best time to schedule a newborn photography session? The ideal time to schedule a newborn photography session is the second to third week of your baby's life. This is when newborns tend to be sleepiest and most cooperative for posing. If your baby has some redness on their face this also gives their skin a little bit of time to clear up. One hard rule I ask my clients to follow is to schedule their session a minimum of six days after a circumcision for baby boys.

  2. How long does a newborn photography session usually last? A typical newborn photography session can take anywhere from 2-4 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, and getting your baby comfortable and sleepy for posing. I will email you a prep guide to follow to help ensure baby is extra sleepy for their session!

  3. What should I bring to a newborn photography session? When you come to a newborn photography session, you should bring extra milk, diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes for yourself and your baby. I provide all the props and equipment needed for the session.

  4. Can siblings and parents be included in the newborn photography session? Absolutely! I love to include siblings and parents in the newborn photography session. It's a great way to capture the special bond between your new baby and your family.

5. What if my baby won't sleep during the session? Don't worry if your baby won't sleep

during the session. Sometimes babies are more awake and alert than expected. I can still

capture beautiful photos of your baby in these moments, and we can work with your

baby's natural movements and expressions. We also have to option to look at trying again

another day.

6. How long does it take to receive the final photos? After the session, I will edit and

retouch the best photos from your session. Two weeks after your session you will come

back into the studio to view your photos, select your favorites, and purchase product.

You will receive digital copies of any photos your family chooses to purchase. Physical

product can take up to six weeks to arrive but should be in two to three weeks after your

order has been placed.
